The Island

The Island is a feature-length animated musical directed by Anca Damian, selected for the main competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2022. An upside-down Robinson Crusoe story set on a Mediterranean island, the film weaves together migration, ecology, and surreal humor through a mix of 2D and 3D animation.

As character designer and background artist, I developed many of the film's characters and environmental elements, drawing from Burning Man aesthetics and a steampunk visual sensibility to build the film's psychedelic, handmade world.
